Immersion & Experiential Learning Opportunities
Gies is intentional with its commitment to provide learners with hands-on experience to take theory to practice. iDegrees learners have the opportunity to apply for in-person and virtual immersion experiences, where they can connect with current faculty and apply business theory outside of the classroom. These experiences can enhance the learner experience immensely by exposing them to global businesses and cultural experiences.
In-Person Immersions
Throughout the year, the iDegree programs travel to cities across the globe – to provide opportunities for learners to connect with businesses in-person and to learn first hand how companies across the world are solving business challenges. During an in-person immersion, learners will collaborate with a company and complete a hands-on case study related to a current challenge or need. Each in-person immersion will provide learners a truly immersive experience where they learn about social, cultural, and economics in the city and country where the immersion is hosted.

Virtual Immersions
In virtual immersions, learners have the opportunity to learn about different cultures across the world and take part in real business cases without leaving their home. The focus of these immersions are on understanding business and economics in host countries. The virtual experience provides learners an in-depth exposure to companies, while applying a business framework to solve a business case. You will have the chance to transform the theoretical and abstract into experiential learning – where the world becomes your classroom.
