Mock Live Session: Lessons on Leading Organizations

In this mock class, Professor Bednar will lead an interactive session that will provide an introduction to the core leadership class on designing and managing organizations that he teaches in Gies Online Programs. During the session, students will discuss some of the common challenges faced within organizations, and learn to apply a framework that will help them better understand these challenges. The mock class will give students an idea of what interactive live sessions are like in the iMBA, iMSM and iMSA programs.

Michael Bednar  is an Associate Professor of Business Administration, Academic Director of Experiential Learning, and Robert & Karen May Faculty Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His primary research interests include corporate governance, executive leadership, and the relationship between organizations and the media. He joined the University of Illinois in 2008 after receiving his PhD in strategic management from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a BS from Brigham Young University, graduating cum laude in 2002. Bednar has received numerous teaching awards, including the Gies College of Business Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award in 2019 and the Dean’s Impact Award in 2018. He serves on the editorial review boards for Strategic Management Journal and for the Strategic Management Journal and for Academy of Management Journal. He currently teaches BADM 509 in the iMBA program.
