Meet the iMSA Faculty with Professor Michael Kustanovich

Join the Gies recruitment team and current faculty member Michael Kustanovich, Clinical Assistant Professor of Accountancy, who teaches in the iMSA program. We will have a conversation explaining  Michael's approach to online teaching, what successful iMSA students look like, and what Professor Kustanovich's other interests are. Michael Kustanovich, CPA, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Accountancy in the Gies College of Business, where he teaches advanced financial accounting courses in both undergraduate and graduate curricula. Prior to joining the Department of Accountancy in 2013, Michael taught in different universities and worked in the assurance departments of BIG 4 accounting firms. He is consistently ranked as "excellent" by his students and earned the Dean Impact Award in 2018-19. Outside of teaching, he is a coauthor of Gleim CPA Review: Financial Accounting and Reporting book and an author of many continued professional education (CPE) courses. Michael currently teaches ACCY 506 in the iMSA program, which focuses on Advanced Financial Reporting. In his teaching, Michael explains each complex accounting topic by using FASB codification and real-life examples from the financial statements. In his classes, in addition to acquiring technical financial accounting knowledge, the students also develop the essential skills that are needed to pass the CPA exam and to succeed in their future careers as accountants.
